Charging an EV in Jersey
Charge at night and an EV is cheap to run in Jersey, and there’s a £700 grant towards a home charger until 13 December 2026. Here’s the rest: tariffs, public charging and duty. All sources checked 24 October 2026.
Home tariffs (from 1 March 2026, incl. GST)

Economy 20 (15.53p) and Economy 8 (12.18p) are for approved heating systems. Jersey Electricity gives its off-peak EV time as 00:00–06:59 (General Domestic, Economy 7). It also offers Easycharge, a home charger on subscription from £30 a month with a 3-year minimum term (Easycharge).
Charger grant: £700
The Government of Jersey’s EV Charger Incentive gives £700 towards a smart charger. An approved electrician applies before installation, by 11:59pm on 13 December 2026 (gov.je). The government puts the average install cost at £1,435 (October 2025) (gov.je EVs). The EV Purchase Incentive closed in December 2024 (gov.je).

Prices are for registered users. Guest, one-time and contactless sessions cost 10% more, and rapid chargers add a £5 overstay fee after 2 hours (Evolve). Public car parks with chargers include Sand Street, Pier Road, Green Street, Minden Place and Patriotic Street; normal parking charges apply (gov.je).
Fuel prices
ATF Jersey listed unleaded at 168.90p and diesel at 185.90p a litre, incl. GST, on 22 October 2026 (ATF); that is one retailer. The Jersey Consumer Council compares forecourts at prices.je. Statistics Jersey’s RPI does not publish a pence-per-litre figure, but shows petrol and oil prices up 22.7% in the year to September 2026 (stats.je). Fuel duty is 65.55p a litre for unleaded and diesel from 11 May 2026 (Customs PDF).
Vehicle Emissions Duty
VED is paid once, at first registration in Jersey. Zero-emission vehicles pay £0. For passenger cars from 11 May 2026: 1–50 g/km £37, 51–75 £77, 76–100 £252, 101–125 £464, 126–150 £787, 151–175 £1,650, 176–200 £5,796, over 200 £12,401 (gov.je, rates PDF). Jersey has no annual road tax.
