Privacy notice
What this site collects, why, and your rights. Short version: very little.
Last updated: 3 October 2026
Who is responsible
DynamoShang (dynamoshang.com) is run by Jon Guillou in Guernsey, who is the controller of any personal data processed through this website. This notice is written to meet the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017 and, for visitors in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. To get in touch about privacy, use the contact form.
The short version
- No cookies are set by this website.
- No analytics, tracking pixels, advertising or social-media widgets.
- No accounts or sign-ups. The only form is the contact form.
- Fonts and images are served from this site — no Google Fonts or other font services are called.
- The web host keeps standard server logs (see below).
- The EV Cost Comparison tool fetches exchange rates from a third-party service when you choose a non-GBP market.
Server logs (hosting)
The site is hosted by Hostinger, which also runs the content delivery network (CDN) in front of it. Like almost every web server, Hostinger's systems record technical information about each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, the browser user agent, the referring page and the response status. This is needed to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose faults. The lawful basis is legitimate interests (running a secure, working website). Hostinger acts as a processor, and log retention follows Hostinger's own settings. We do not use these logs to build visitor profiles or combine them with other data.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you enter are sent by email to the site owner, only so that we can read and reply to your message. They are not stored in a database or file on this website. The email is kept in the owner's mailbox for as long as needed to deal with your message. The lawful basis is legitimate interests (answering people who contact us).
To stop spam and abuse, the form records a one-way hash of your IP address with the time of each submission. These records are kept on the server, outside the public website, for no more than 24 hours and are then deleted. The form uses no cookies, captcha or third-party services.
The EV Cost Comparison tool
- Exchange rates. If you pick a country whose currency is not GBP, your browser requests current rates directly from api.frankfurter.app, a free third-party exchange-rate service. As with any web request, that service receives your IP address and browser details. No other information about you or your inputs is sent. If the request fails, the tool uses built-in fallback rates.
-
Car prices. The tool loads starting prices from this site
(
/api/prices.php). That script periodically fetches public price pages from manufacturer and retailer websites on the server side; your browser does not contact those sites and none of your data is sent to them. - Your settings stay on your device. The tool remembers your chosen country, sort order, body-type filter and ownership period using your browser's local storage, so they are still set next time. This is not a cookie, is not sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser's site-data settings. The numbers you type into the calculator are processed in your browser only.
Links to other sites
Pages link to manufacturers, retailers, image sources and other websites. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies. This site sends only its origin (dynamoshang.com) as the referrer to other websites, not the full page address.
Where data is processed
Hostinger, the owner's email provider and the exchange-rate service may process data on servers outside the Bailiwick of Guernsey and the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place under data protection law.
Your rights
Under Guernsey law and the UK GDPR you have the right to ask for access to personal data about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability where it applies. Use the contact form to make a request. Because the site holds so little, the only personal data we are likely to hold about you is a message you sent us; server logs are held by the host.
You can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Authority in Guernsey (odpa.gg) or, if you are in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We would appreciate the chance to sort things out first, so please get in touch.
Changes
If the site starts using cookies, analytics, affiliate links or anything else that affects your data, this notice will be updated before that happens, and the date above will change.
