Free tools and guides for people who want electric driving to make financial sense.
DynamoShang is an independent website run from Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. It is not owned by, or paid by, any car maker, energy supplier, charging network or retailer.
What the site does
- The free EV Cost Comparison calculator compares the running and ownership costs of an electric car with a petrol or hybrid equivalent, using your own mileage and tariffs.
- Charger price tables compare public charging networks' prices per kWh and fees.
- Practical guides on home charging, tariffs, public charging and running costs.
- Versions for the UK, Guernsey, Jersey, the United States, Canada and several European countries.
Everything is free to use, with no account or sign-up.
Where our prices come from
- Car prices are the manufacturers' own published “from” prices for each market, each with the date it was taken, shown in the calculator's data sources.
- Public charging prices come from each operator's own public price page. Each row links to that page and shows the date we last checked it; we aim to re-check every few days.
- Energy and fuel figures use official or published sources, such as the Ofgem price cap in the UK, and the pages say which date they apply to. Efficiency defaults use official test figures (for example WLTP).
Prices change often. Always check the current price with the seller or operator before you buy or charge.
