EV rebates and incentives in Canada (2026)

Good news: a federal rebate of up to $5,000 is back for 2026, and some provinces add their own. Several provincial programs have closed, though.

Federal: Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP)

Up to $5,000 for battery-electric and $2,500 for plug-in hybrids in 2026. It applies to eligible models with a final transaction value of $50,000 or less (no cap for vehicles made in Canada), and the dealer applies it at purchase (Transport Canada). The program sets lower amounts from 2027, so check the dates before signing.

Provincial

  • Québec, Roulez vert: up to $2,000 on a new eligible vehicle (Gouvernement du Québec).
  • Manitoba: $4,000 new, $2,500 used, $1,000–4,000 lease. Vehicle must be under $70,000 and bought from a Manitoba dealer. Extended in Budget 2026. Tesla and China-made EVs bought after March 19, 2025 are not eligible (Government of Manitoba).
  • Newfoundland and Labrador: closed. The application deadline was March 15, 2026 (NL Hydro).

Other provinces: check your provincial government and utility sites. We list only programs we could confirm on an official page on October 24, 2026.

About sales tax

Canadian prices on this page are shown as published. Pump prices include fuel taxes and GST/HST; electricity rates are usually quoted before GST, HST or PST, which vary by province (5% GST up to 15% HST), so we don't split them out. Check your bill or the charger app for the tax that applies to you.
