Tesla Supercharger cost
You see the Supercharger price in the Tesla app or the car before you plug in. Tesla doesn’t publish a national per-kWh price; here’s what it does publish.

What Tesla publishes
- Prices vary by site and time of day. They are shown in the Tesla app and in the car before you charge (Tesla support).
- Non-Tesla drivers can use many Superchargers through the Tesla app. They pay a higher price unless they buy a Supercharging membership, which gives member pricing.
- Idle and congestion fees can apply at busy sites.
What we can’t tell you
There is no published national per-kWh rate, so we won’t quote one. Open the Tesla app, pick the site, and check the owner, non-owner and member prices for your arrival time.
Compare it with home charging at 18.16¢/kWh (Average residential electricity price, US (EIA EPM Table 5.6.A)).
About sales tax
US prices on this page are shown as published. Gas pump prices already include federal and state fuel taxes; electricity rates and public charging may have state and local sales tax added on top, and that varies by state, county and city, so we don't split it out. Check your bill or the charger app for the tax that applies to you.
