Road trip charging
An EV road trip means a few 20–30 minute stops, about the length of a coffee. A little planning makes them painless.

Plan
- Use the car’s built-in route planner; it preconditions the battery for faster charging.
- Arrive at chargers with 10–20% left, and pick a backup site within range.
- Charge to what you need for the next leg, usually up to about 80%.
Cost
Long trips rely on fast charging, so budget at public prices, not home rates. See public charging.
Cold and remote areas
Allow for winter losses (winter range), and leave larger margins where chargers are far apart.
Compare public charger prices: Prices change, check before you charge. The price shown in the operator’s app or on the charger is the one you pay.
